Leading Edge Certification for the Online & Blended Teacher

The Leading Edge Alliance has developed a certification program for K-12  teachers. This certification is a national program to prepare instructional leaders for online and blended learning.  Content includes building community, moderating discussions, supporting diverse learners, and implementing frequent formative assessments. This course focuses on the pedagogy of effective online and blended instruction.  It also prepares teachers to implement the type of digital activities required by Common Core State Standards.

Participating educators become “Leading Edge Certified” upon successful completion of the program.

Successful completion includes:

  • Completion of the 45-60 hour Leading Edge Certification (LEC) online course
  • Per agreement with the Leading Edge Alliance, this online course is offered for $450, including portfolio review and certification.
  • Completion of a professional portfolio containing signature assignments from the LEC course, based upon the iNACOL National Standards for Quality Online Teaching.

Participants in Leading Edge Certification should have familiarity with web-based tools, experience with discussion boards, and knowledge of online tools and resources available in their subject area.
